Russia's airlines – like the whole world’s air transport – are undergoing dramatic transformations driven by long-term trends of consolidation and recently boosted by world’s financial crisis and economics recession.

New economical and financial reality dictate new approach to airline business development based upon significantly expanded international commercial cooperation, integration and merger of airlines around the globe. However neighboring countries of European Union and Russia are still divided by a number of barriers. They will be removed. The question is how and when.

Regardless many political difficulties and differences, the EU and Russia airlines are moving forward with a diversified and comprehensive package of partnership agreements. Regulatory authorities as well as airlines are aiming to develop EU - Russia aviation relations in line with international norms. Participants had said about the 2008 conference:

“The conference was “spot on”. A wonderful opportunity to meet the key players of the European market. Great organization”.
Mikhail Baskov, Development director, KD avia
“For now, this conference was a monologue on the problems of Russian airlines that caused courteous interest of European carriers”
Denis Ilyin, AirBridge Cargo
“The first try was a success, but there still is work to do. This was a great start!”
Alexey Fomin, Ural Airlines
“A wonderfully organized conference with interesting presentations”
Maria Abramova, Gates and Partners
“We got access to a great deal of useful information. I am sure that this will help us in the initiation of a constructive dialogue between Russian and European airlines. It’s a pity, though, that the presentations of some of the participants were just a declaration of their business development plans.”
Anna Gadalina, Kommersant
“I consider the event to have been a great success and thank you for such professional organization.”
Alistair Giles Thursfield, Lufthansa Systems
“Participation in the event was a useful experience for both Russian and EU airlines. Russian carriers got the opportunity to share their experience in solving problems that occurred when they decided to expand international activity. In turn, European colleagues recommended possible ways of industry development in the framework of EU - Russia cooperation. The event was a wonderful opportunity of establishing an informal dialogue between Russian and European carriers.”
Taras Gerasimov, Utair Aviation
“This conference was a very welcome contribution to the developing ties between Europe and Russia. It is vital that the voice of Russian business is heard in Brussels in order to bring the two biggest trading partners on the continent closer together. I was proud to participate in the conference and look forward to closer relations in the future.”
